Description
The Corrado, which debuted as the successor to the Scirocco, saw Volkswagen raising the bar even higher in 1988. Their aim was to create a more exclusive, sportier, and more stylish car than its predecessor. This ambition was reflected in its price, meaning it didn’t sell as many units as the Scirocco. However, this exclusivity has only increased its appeal in the classic car world. At the top of the range was the G60 model, which effortlessly produced 160 horsepower from its 1.8-liter G-laden engine. With substantial tuning potential, it can achieve up to 300 horsepower with significant modifications. Even at factory power levels, the car offers dynamic driving experiences, with its five-speed manual gearbox playing a crucial role. Its excellent handling makes it a joy to drive through corners, and it holds its own on the highway. Designed by Herbert Schäfer and built at the Karmann factory in Osnabrück, the Corrado is one of the most stylish 2+2 seaters of the late ’80s and early ’90s. The G60 model further enhances its appeal with its distinctive bumpers and wider bodywork. Top Gear star Richard Hammond once described the car as “a classic waiting in the wings… I think it’s really rather special… the result is fantastic.” The unit we offer for sale is in perfect mechanical and aesthetic condition. Its unique burgundy metallic paint and original BBS rims make it stand out, while the interior features comfortable electric Recaro sport seats and an electric sunroof. Due to its rarity and distinctiveness, the Corrado G60 has excellent potential for value appreciation, making it a superb investment.
