Description

When Toyota launched the fifth generation Celica in 1989, they had a high standard to surpass. Yet, the Celica, with its first rounded design language, became a resounding success. Thanks to the new design, the drag coefficient significantly improved over its predecessor, aided by pop-up headlights. It’s no wonder that Toyota focused on increasing body rigidity, as the Celica also competed in the Group A World Rally Championship, building a massive cult following and fanbase around the model. Truth be told, even we are impressed by the condition of the Celica we have for sale, as it is hard to find a more pristine, original Celica. With just ten thousand kilometers on the clock, it supports the notion that this piece was truly preserved for posterity. Consequently, there is no rust on the car, which is quite rare for this model since rust is one of its main enemies, even though the mechanical parts, known for Japanese precision, were famously reliable. Sitting inside, it’s hard to believe that we are enveloped by a 32-year-old sports car. Every fabric, switch, and plastic coating feels as if we are in a brand new car. Upon turning the key, the wonderfully revving naturally aspirated engine and the perfectly precise transmission continue to pamper our senses. After covering just a few meters, we leave the present behind and feel as though we are slicing through the miles in 1992 with a stunning pop-up headlight Celica.
