The first generation Range Rover was so successful that it was produced almost unchanged from 1969 until 1996. Nevertheless, expert eyes can immediately spot that it is a later model. The most obvious improvements are the more practical 5-door design and the updated, more comfortable interior. The present example, a V8 Vogue SE, has the huge advantage that while on the outside it is a brutally edged SUV, on the inside it is a modern tourer with all the luxuries of a 3.5-litre engine, automatic gearbox, electrically adjustable beige leather seats, 4 electric windows, wood trim and sunroof.
