Description
The Mercedes R 107 is the longest-produced sports car, in production from 1971 to 1989, and the second longest-produced sports car body style of all cars (just behind the G-Class).
The R 107’s success is no coincidence: its comfort, chassis, performance and practicality are still outstanding in today’s traffic; its reliability is legendary, its convertible top is easy to handle and its boot is the size of a saloon. Its performance is superior due to its short body, relatively light weight (around 1500 kg) and powerful engines, which is why it was used as a rally car (Monte Carlo SLC) and its small body makes it easy to park, easy to see and practical to use in town.
The model offered for sale is well equipped: automatic gearbox, Gullideckel wheels, ABS, power mirrors, power windows, original (not restored) leather seats, period Becker Gran Prix radio, air conditioning, leather armrests, fog lights, etc.
The car is in good condition for its age, has OT plates, rare European bumpers and lights, has a very nice tarpaulin and a hard top! The whole car is extremely aesthetic, it was awarded a beauty prize in a vintage car competition because of its unique and rare colour scheme (light yellow – saddle leather).
The 380 as engine is considered by many to be the best powerplant in the R107s (the car is not nose heavy) due to its peppy revving and relative light weight, it is a pleasure to drive.
The car has been freshly serviced and is in excellent technical condition.
Mercedes R107s have almost the highest appreciation prospects of any veteran car, well over 25 percent per year, which is steadily increasing, especially in the current economic climate.
Models with similar condition, equipment and mileage in Western Europe start at €20,000.
